2025 | Interactive audio-visual installation
YOU, A VISITOR is an interactive audiovisual installation presented in June at West Den Haag for the exhibition Murmur in early June 2025.
In a hidden room in the basement of the former American Embassy of The Hague the visitors could encounter a Wave Creature floating in a glass bowl and interact with it.
The work invites through the experience to reflect on a delicate topic: interacting (or not?) with an ecosystem and its (often unintentional) consequences.
The installation runs a SuperCollider patch on a Raspberry PI that generates sound waves. The oscilloscope shows them as a “living, breathing thing” inside of a glass bowl through a technique known as the Pepper’s Ghost. The creature reacts to the presence of the visitors through sensors placed on the ground.
